EVERGREEN SECONDARY’S VERY FIRST KINECT COMPETITION 2013
Evergreen Secondary School held its very first Kinect Inter-house competition in conjunction with the Asian youth games held in Nanjing, china 2013, organized by the CCA executive committee. The Kinect Olympic Games consists of volleyball, bowling and lastly boxing. It was a grueling battle between the houses but at the end of the day it was fun. Iqbal from 1 respect representing Eddie Barker house in boxing, said that the games were very fun and interactive but it was a bit difficult to control the virtual players since he was not that experienced. He won 2 out of 3 rounds for boxing. Neo En Dian from 1 Respect, representing David Marshall house in bowling, said that the games were exciting and he felt that the games would be very interactive for families, as it can promote family bonding between members. He also mentioned that the games were easier for him to play because he was more experienced.
EVG Vibes did an interview with Lee Hsin Yee (1 Enterprise), a representative of Lim Kim San house. Hsin Yee is a participant in the Inter-House kinect competition where she competes with people from other houses for bowling.

Q: Which part of the game that you enjoy the most?
A: Generally the game is really interesting, interactive and fun. I really had an enjoyable time!
Q: Would you like to have more of these Kinect games in future and why?
A: Yes, simply because it is so fun. It also gives me the opportunity to bond with competitors from other houses. It is a wonderful experience for me.
Q: What makes Kinect special as compared to other games?
A: When playing the game I can move and control gestures without using a controller!
Q: Do you have any tips for Kinect game that you would like to share with all EVGians?
A: This is my first time playing games using Kinect. I just want to say, “practice makes perfect” and for the competitors, weshould have a certain day when we all practice.
