School has officially started in the year of 2014. To the new students of Evergreen, welcome and we hope your 4 to 5 years here would definitely be a fruitful one. To the current batch of
EVGians: Happy New Term! Maybe you’ve got new subject teachers or form teachers but whatever the case, it is best to make good first impressions, or even change your teacher’s
1. Hand in homework on time!
Okay. This one I think everyone knows. However, many do not know its importance.Handing
in your homework on time shows that you are, generally, a very punctual person. This is oneof the easiest ways on how to give a good impression to your teacher. Sometimes, yes, we
may feel that deadlines are rather unreasonable. But hey, you are a teenager now! Reason with your subject teacher if you cannot finish your homework on time. You may be surprised
to see that your teacher is willing to hear you out and reach a compromise with you.
2. Bring EVERYTHING you need for lesson.
This is also quite a simple act that results in an occasionally heavy school bag, but pleases
your teacher a lot. For example, if you are a Pure Biology student and the materials you have for this subject are
your textbook, worksheets from your workbook, your TYS (Ten-year series) and perhaps a file. Let’s say your teacher says that he or she wants the class to bring your TYS and your
textbook. Weird combination to you, maybe? But definitely not weird to your teacher, who wants to finish Transport in Humans and cover some Structured Essay Questions from there. Teachers always plan out what they want to teach for the day, and it isn’t wise to not follow
that plan, because it would hold everyone back and thus, you can’t finish the syllabus in time. This ultimately results in something students and teachers find irritating: Supplementary classes.
3. Pay attention!
Okay, I admit it. This is the hardest of all. Even I fall prey to being distracted during class by
my pile of homework. Giving the teacher your fullest attention means looking at him or her in the face, nodding
occasionally, writing notes (really fast) and taking down the really important points. This makes your teacher happy to teach the class. Also, don’t interrupt the teacher if you have a
burning question to ask. Wait until he or she has finished talking, then ask your question. There may still be many more tips, but these three are the most important to give your teacher the best impression of you. These three things are actually the simplest of what your teacher
demands of you, so start doing these doing all these RIGHT NOW. And that means no ‘chiong-ing’ homework and cramming for tests. YES, AND I’M
WATCHING YOU!
