CHINESE NEW YEAR DELICACIES!

Many people have many thoughts about the annually celebrated Chinese New Year. I managed to interview fellow EVGians about what they think and feel about this special event.

To a lot of people, Chinese New Year not only means receiving tons of red packets but to also spend time with their family members.

Chinese New Year is the only time where relatives from all over the world or country gather round and have a feast. When family members gather together, they enjoy the precious moments that they have with one another. Some of their favourite dishes to have during their family reunions are roasted chicken, roasted duck, abalone, barbequed pork and pen chai (abalone mushrooms with meat). What is a celebration without some biscuits? Some favourite biscuits would be the pineapple tarts and love letters.

I also asked them on their thoughts on the performance.

Everyone worked hard for this performance to be a success. The Chinese Orchestra members have been rehearsing ever since the week school started this year. The emcees were full of confidence and they did not feel nervous at all. Even if a mishap were to happen on the stage ‘the show must go on’. For some people it was not their first time performing on stage and some people it was.

Evergreen took a different approach towards the Chinese New Year concert. It was the first year the performances aligned with the storyline. The performance has many positive views from the audience. Some enjoyed the vibrant colours of the fashion show and others felt that the video of the former EVGians touched the hearts of many.
