What’s the latest major sports event everyone’s buzzing about?

The 2015 South East Asia Games! This year, it was Singapore’s turn to host the event. It was especially special for Singapore to hold this event as it was also Singapore’s 50th Birthday! In 1993, Singapore had previously hosted the event, and had obtained a total of 50 Gold medals, 40 Silver medals, and 74 Bronze medals! This year, Singapore had aimed to pass the 50 medals (Gold) mark, to break their record. In the end, Singapore did break their record, and obtained a whopping 99 Gold medals, 73 Silver medals, and 102 Bronze medals!

On the 10th of July, Evergreen Secondary School had the honour to have various SEA Games athletes from different sporting events to tell us about their experience in the SEA Games, and what challenges they had faced. One of the SEA Games Athlete even sang the SEA Games’ theme song “Unbreakable”! This showed us that besides sports, athletes have their own individual talents too!

After the event, two of our EVGians, Haris and Irfan were lucky enough to catch an interview with two SEA Games Rugby players! Marah Ishraf, and Nick Yau, two Singaporean SEA Games athletes shared with us their experience during the SEA Games, and the challenges they faced. They also shared with us their training schedule and their advice for future Rugby players. Do check out the interview below!
