Teachers’ day .. A special day celebrated in many countries and created to show our appreciation and gratitude to teachers for their hard work in trying their best they could to educate and enlighten our world by guiding us to our bright and successful futures. Many will think that teachers are employed and intended to makes lives much more worst by constantly placing tremendous amount of pressure on lots of people but they are absolutely wrong. Teachers are essential in our daily lives because they are an epitome of knowledge who’s responsible for nurturing many lives and a person who guides and imparts knowledge to people regardless if they are willing or unwilling to accept the knowledge given to them. Besides that, teachers are also one of the sources of inspiration to many of us other than inspirations that exist in many aspects such as famous personalities or nature.
Back to what exactly happened during Teachers Day in Evergreen Secondary School, it was an unforgettable experience to many and especially Secondary 1 students that are new to the school because it was their first Teachers Day in secondary school. Magnolia white clouds drifted in the vast blue clear sky as the noises created from enthusiastic students in the parade square that eagerly awaits to bombard their teachers with gifts has left a memorable experience for many of us of how beholden and grateful EVGians are to their teachers for showering them with immense love and care and treating them like their own children all the way till they graduate from the school.
As a Secondary 1 student, my class have prepared a class party for our dear teachers during Teachers Day. Before the actual day happened, my class has decided to collect money from fellow classmates to sponsor on the food and cake for the class party during Teachers Day. It was not compulsory to donate a small sum of money but to my surprise, everybody in the class willingly contributed to the costs involved in the party. Some of my generous classmates have decided to donate way more than the expected amount of money to be contributed by us. This was some of the indelible experiences in life to see that the whole class gave away a small fraction of their money just for the sake of their teachers. As the whole class is present at the classroom during Teachers Day, we unpacked all the food such as sweets, drinks and more and laid it all out on a temporary long table by placing 3 tables side to side with each other. We then decided to write our wishes on the whiteboard and also thanking them for guiding us and being a caring teacher. After some time, the whiteboard was full of wishes and was well decorated. Before our teachers could arrive into the classroom, we practiced on wishing our teachers ‘Happy Teachers Day’.
Its 8:10AM in the morning and the classroom lights were erased to surprise our teachers. We waited eagerly hoping that our teachers would come and we ached to surprise them. ‘Happy Teachers Day’, we wished them from the bottom of our hearts. They were flabbergasted and we decided to proceed on to our party. The class feasted on sweets and cake and were forging strong relationships with each other. After the party, we cleaned up the classroom without having the feeling of laziness or reluctance.
We then went to the hall in two orderly lines. Trying our best not to make our teachers furious, we kept quiet on our way to the hall to watch the Teachers Day concert. When we arrived there, the whole school was present at the hall. The whole hall was cramped and was packed like a can of sardines.
The concert includes singing and playing of musical instruments, videos of EVGians wishing their teachers and much more. I was amazed to the fact that many students in Evergreen Secondary School is talented. During the concert, there was also a game where teachers had to guess the word that was enacted by a partner of the teacher.
After the concert had ended, it left many of us an unforgettable experience in our lives and it also teaches us that we have to appreciate what our teachers had done for us for our better and future.
Teachers Day is a meaningful day for teachers and students all over the world so we as students must appreciate what our teachers had done for us, for our own good. They are the guiding angel in every student’s life, always there to support us and we can never be thankful enough to a teacher for carving the path of success for us. Let us all wish our teachers Happy Teachers Day and thank them for colouring our lives.
