It’s 2016 and yet another new year for The Media Challenge to start. The competition is an annual outreach event that engages students who are interested in Mass Communications.
The competition lasted three days, from the 15th to the 17th of March at Republic Polytechnic.
This year, we sent out two teams for the competition. Our school has been participating in this competition ever since it started, and this was our third year!
The theme for this year’s Media Challenge was Digital Marketing, and students were asked to create a campaign to reduce the time used for social media, and instead use the time for family activities.
We were also supposed to create a Facebook page consisting of 5 original posts, a video and a presentation of our campaign.
My Teammates, Teacher-in-charge and Poly student Mentors

I joined EVGVibes Team 1, and my team and I had decided to focus more on the senior citizens and the views of the youth on the usage of social media.
On Day 1, courses were held to teach students various skills and tips.
On Day 2, school teams were sent to different areas like The Cathay Cineleisure. My team was sent to AMK shopping mall to film our video, interviewing various age groups and their opinions of social media and face to face interaction.
On Day 3, my teammates and I were finishing up the last touches of our presentation. We then presented our campaign and idea to the judging panel.
