Secondary 2 students spend half their year of VIA (Values In Action) preparing for this very day that is filled with challenges, hard work and fun.

For those who don’t know, the Charity Bazaar which took place on 28th July, during school hours, had students running to buy coupons in order to patron the stalls.

The stalls showcased a variety of games, food, stationery and much, much more! EVGians had to use the coupons that they had paid for in order to purchase the desired items, and the money would go to Sree Narayana Mission, a nursing home facility that offers long-term residential nursing care service for the elderly. The money would also be donated to Hospice Care, a registered charity caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

The food stalls sold a variety of delicious food and beverages, such as waffles and milo dinosaur. A particular stall run by parent volunteers sold Traditional Bee Hoon, along with a few nuggets and garnish!

“It was interesting going around looking at the different booths our Secondary 2 seniors put effort into making and it certainly was a meaningful event as it helped raised funds for charities that benefit the society,” Sec 1 EVGian Britney Ang commented.

“The charity bazaar was quite well organized. It was quite fun seeing the students going around buying food and drinks with their friends.” said EVG’s Head Prefect Sonya Wong

Gaming Stalls had set up games that involve ball-throwing, gun-shooting, hoop-throwing that came with prizes such as sweets, biscuits, and even cakes! Even for those who did not manage to score points in the games, they were rewarded with consolation prizes.

Last but not least, for the first time in charity bazaar’s history, a few students performed during the bazaar! They sang and danced to songs such as ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Payphone’ By Maroon 5, and more!

All in all, they raised a total of over $9000 for the charities, topping last year's record of $8000.

One thing’s for sure, this is definitely, by far, the best day of their school semester!
